Sue Chivilo completed her Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 and has been teaching full time ever since. Her classes are a Hatha based yoga flow of movement with focus on the breath and alignment, infusing somatic (felt/sensed) movement and guided meditation.  She encourages people to tune into sensation to find easeful, mindful movement that supports a sustainable, comfortable practice.

Sue is also a qualified chef, with a love of food and keen interest in nutrition.  She loves cooking with fresh ingredients and produce from her own garden, making her the perfect advocate for living a holistic lifestyle.  Sue prepares and cooks all the meals at her annual yoga retreat which guests love and look forward to each year.

Sue continues to evolve her own practice and teaching with continued education and training and holds the following further qualifications:

  • Kids Yoga Teacher (Rainbow Kids Yoga)
  • Restorative Yoga Teacher (Om Yoga USA),
  • Certificate in Applied Yoga Anatomy (Yoga Medicine USA)
  • Certificate in BioMedical Yoga Therapy for Mental Health & Wellbeing (BIYOME Brisbane)
  • Certificate in The Art of Teaching (Donna Farhi)
  • Yoga Deconstructed Somatics & Yoga (Trina Altman)
  • Yoga & Somatics workshops for Feet, Hips, Spine & shoulders (Lisa Peterson – Living Yoga)
  • Hip & Lumbar spine workshop (Judith Hanson-Lasater PhD PT)
  • Yoga for Pelvic Floor Health (Leslie Howard – Pelvic Floor Yoga)

Sue also continues her study of yoga philosophy and love of chanting through weekly classes under the guidance of Chinmaya Mission.

In 2016 Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy.  She drew strength during this time of recovery, by adapting her personal yoga practice to focus on ancient yogic wisdoms of “being present with what is now” which supported her healing process to full recovery.  She brings this gentle patience, acceptance and understanding to support others recovering from both physical and emotional illness and injury.

Sue teaches at Community Groups, in private Mental Health and holds Group Classes at the Yoga Freedom Studio which she co-owns in Avondale Heights, Melbourne.

Sue has confidence that there is something for everyone in yoga and brings this warmth and enthusiasm to her classes.  Sue is a registered member with Yoga Australia.
